Blockeley University is a virtual replica of the entire UC Berkeley campus in Minecraft. In May, we hosted a virtual graduation for the UC Berkeley Class of 2020. Right after graduation, we hosted a 2-day music festival with some of the world's most popular artists. This online space provided a unique synthesis of recent and long-past nostalgia for college students given the cancellation of in-person commencement ceremonies due to COVID-19.
Our virtual commencement was viewed by over 420k individuals across the world, and our virtual music festival had over 60 DJs and artists perform, including Cash Cash, Sofi Tukker, BEAUZ, Matroda, and more. A TikTok video showcasing the virtual commencement garnered 2.7 million views and was trending on the For You page.
